Winemaking

Winemaker:  Lynn Wilson     Assistant Winemaker:  Monte Boydston

Winemakers at work - along with the rest of us helping out during crush - sorting grapes, removing M.O.G. (material other than grapes) or dumping grapes into the crusher - Lucy's grape stomping replacement.  You surely remember that famous episode of "I LOVE LUCY"!

  • Lynn working on the Syrah  - "Up to his elbows in work!"
  • Monte standing on barrels stirring the "Lees" - this develops the mouthfeel of the wine.
  • The girls  hand sorting Viognier grapes and "mogging".
  • Forklift   - dumping sorted grapes into crusher with the help of a pitch fork operator on the platform.
  • Completing one of the many "Punch Downs" where we use stainless steel tools to gently push the "Cap" of grape skins that rises during fermentation back down into the juice.  That's why our wines have such dark, rich color and flavors .  We can truly use the term "hand-crafted" when we describe our wines!
