PilotPeakWinery Featured on Lifetime Television This Week

PENN VALLEY, CA ? September 7, 2010 ? This Thursday, Lifetime Television will feature Pilot Peak Winery as the event destination and backdrop to a new episode of ?On the Road with Austin and Santino.?

The reality show follows "Project Runway" breakout stars and fashion designers Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice as they travel to and immerse themselves in the culture of small towns across America. At each location, the duo fight deadlines, regional hardships and sometimes each other to create a very special outfit for a woman celebrating a milestone event.

For this week?s episode, ?Bottled Up,? a crew of nearly forty descended up on the small Penn Valley winery owned and operated by Lynn and Jacque Wilson and Len and Nancy Stevens.

The winery was selected from among hundreds across the nation and filming took place over several weeks in July. The episode captures the serene and rustic charm of the Gold Country of California and highlights Pilot Peak?s cedar and stone accented buildings and tree-lined terraces as well as their new downtown Grass Valley tasting room.

Making the episode even more exciting for co-owner and winery event planner Jacque Wilson was the fact that the dress and the party were actually a surprise in honor of her 60^th birthday. ?The entire process was so incredible and so much fun,? she says.

Wilson, who handles all event-planning, marketing, packaging and customer relations for the winery, was treated to pre-event primping by hair expert Johnny LaVoy from NYC and a makeup artist flown in from Dallas. Still, Wilson felt the best part of the experience was to share the fruits of their labor and showcase the winery, the regional beauty and their new tasting room.

?We?re just so proud of what we?ve done in the years since opening in 2004,? she continues. Adding to this sense of pride is the opening of The Grass Valley Wine Co., which features wine of Bent Metal, Montoliva, Pilot Peak and Solune. Pilot Peak has also won countless awards for its wine, including Gold Medal awards at several California State Fairs.

The episode will air locally on Comcast this Thursday, September 9 at 10:30pm on Lifetime network. Wilson says that she and her husband, who is the Pilot Peak winemaker, will be entertaining friends as they watch the show at later date for a pre-recorded version.

If you happen to be in Grass Valley, CA, and you are looking to taste some Nevada/Sierra County wines make sure you make the trip to Pilot Peak Winery.

After a pleasant country drive you are greeted by a long, sweeping driveway up to the winery. The winery is located on a small hill and overlooks Pilot Peak.

Entering into the tasting room, the winery owner/wine maker and his wife warmly greet you and pour a taste of their white wine. They are friendly and hospitable people who are comfortable to be around. When you are done tasting the white wine, you are encouraged to grab a plate and fill it with appetizers prepared by the winemaker. You are then led out to the lovely, flower-filled courtyard and to a table prepared for you with a flight of three red wines to taste. You are encouraged to take your time, enjoy the views and music, taste the wine and get some more food or wine, if you need a little more to taste.

The wines are extremely food friendly. We took home a case of great wine and a perfect ending to our trip to Nevada County wineries.

Lynn Wilson named to Nevada County's New Tourism Committee

Pilot Peak winemaker, Lynn Wilson has been appointed by Nevada County Supervisor Hank Weston to serve on a newly formed committtee focusing on gaining more awareness for Nevada County's tourism opportunities.

The committee will consider the concept of a Convention and Visitors Bureau, flesh out ideas for a consultant who would offer a direction for tourism promotion, consider the logistics of creating a Web site and recommend future funding of tourism promotion throughout Nevada County.

This is a new way of "doing business" in Nevada County and will be results oriented.

Lynn Wilson in addition to being the winemaker at Pilot Peak Winery, was also past president of the Northern Sierra Wine Country Association and currently serves that organization as the Community Relations and Outreach contact.
