Fix’ens for Canned Baked Beans

Yield: 20 Servings

Quick method to take ordinary canned beans and give them a special touch.  From scratch (as in dried beans) always the best, but who has the time?

1 (117 Oz) can   Baked Beans                 Bush Label
1/2 large             Sweet Onion                Chopped
6 Cloves              Garlic                             Chopped
6 Slices                Bacon                             Fried and Crumbled
4 T                        Dried Thyme
4 T                        Dried Oregano
2 t                         Cayenne Pepper
4                            Jalapeno Peppers        Minced-Seeds Removed
 
Fry bacon until crisp and remove from pan reserving the bacon fat. Add onion and all the spices and sauté until the onion is lightly browned and softened. Add the garlic and continue cooking until frequent – 30 seconds or so. Remove from heat. Crumble bacon and add to the onion mixture. This can be accomplished up to 3 days prior to use. Add the onion mixture to the canned beans during cooking to add complexity to the dish.
